Abstract
Nine hundred and two strains of Klebsiella sp.were
isolated from clinical sources at National Medical Center during recent five years(1968 to 1972).
1. These strains identified as follows:
K. aerogenes 763 strains(84.6%)
K. edwardsii 112 strains12.4%)
K. pneumoniae 21 strain` 2.3%)
K. ozaenae 5 strains` 0.6%)
K. rhinosclerornatis 1 strain( 0.1%)
2. Total numbers of strain isolated from male are :higher than -total numbers from female.
3. Total numbers of the age group from 20^29 years, 30^-¢¥39 years, & 40,-49 years old respectively are higher than total numbers from other age group.
4. Seasonal "trend shows hot season e.g. June to September is more prevalent.
5. Correlation of strain source with clinical department shows the highest incidence of general surgery next to this, orthopedic surgery, chest surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics etc. in descending order.
6. Correlation of strain source with clinical material shows the highest incidence of pus next to this, urine, sputum etc. in descending order:
7. The rate of susceptibility to several antibiotics is to .v in general except gentamycin(87.3%) and kanamycin(70.3%). However in case of gentamycin sensitive strains are 23(10.5%) and moderately semi, five strains are 169(76.8%) And in case of kanamycin sensitive strains are 245`27.3%) and moderately sensitive strains are 387(43.0%¢¥.
